Field policy
The enclosure stays sealed.
Most of our hardware is ordinary. A smaller set of units is not. Those units are labeled. The label is the entire procedure.
Do not open a Thornhill sealed enclosure. If a unit appears damaged, photograph the exterior, leave the site as you found it, and call operations. Do not investigate the interior.
Why the rule exists
Line-conditioning gear carries voltage, stored energy, and — in some programs — processing plant that is not field-serviceable. Opening a box to “see what it does” is how people leave the roster. It has happened. We do not discuss those cases in public briefings.
What crews actually do
- Confirm the unit ID against the work order.
- Inspect mounts, bonds, and the exterior gasket.
- Swap a unit only when operations has issued a replacement.
- Return the old unit sealed. Do not inventory the inside.
Public reporting
